3×3 basketball is fast: a short game, a shot clock, 1- and 2-point shots, and team fouls that quickly start costing free throws. A paper scoresheet barely keeps up, and after the tournament someone still has to retype everything into the statistics. In this post we show how to run an electronic 3×3 basketball scoresheet and publish the score and statistics instantly.

How does a 3×3 scoresheet differ from a 5×5 one?

  • Scoring: a shot from behind the arc is worth 2 points, all other made shots 1 point.
  • Team fouls: they’re counted for the whole team, further fouls (from the seventh) result in free throws, and from the tenth also in possession.
  • Timeout: each team has one timeout per game.
  • Overtime: in case of a tie, the first team to score 2 points in overtime wins.

That’s why a 3×3 scoresheet above all has to handle the split between 1- and 2-point shots and the sequence of team fouls well.

How does the electronic 3×3 scoresheet work?

You open the 3×3 basketball panel directly from a specific game in Turniej Generator. Once the game starts, the operator enters events as they happen: points, team fouls, unsportsmanlike fouls, and timeouts. The system keeps the entries consistent and saves changes automatically, so the current state of the scoresheet is available during and after the game.

What does the 3×3 panel cover?

  • full team rosters and player numbers,
  • player points split into 1- and 2-point shots,
  • automatic point totals for every player,
  • team fouls marked in sequence from 1 to 10+,
  • players’ unsportsmanlike fouls (U1/U2),
  • team timeouts and the running score for both sides,
  • the final score and the overtime score.

Key benefits

  • Live operation: all data entered in one place, with no retyping into other sheets.
  • Autosave: the panel saves the scoresheet regularly, reducing the risk of data loss.
  • Ready for streaming: use the statistics and score bar right away in OBS views.
  • One tool: scoresheet, statistics, and final score in one place.

3×3 basketball scoresheet: a game-day checklist

Even the best electronic 3×3 basketball scoresheet won’t help if the table isn’t ready before the first game. At 3×3 events, games often start every 15–20 minutes on several courts, so it pays to go through a short checklist:

  1. Rosters before the event: 3×3 teams have up to 4 players. Enter rosters and jersey numbers in the system beforehand, so on game day you only confirm who’s present.
  2. One device per court: a tablet or phone at each scorer’s table, charged, with a power bank and a stable connection.
  3. A briefed operator: a volunteer at the table should know the difference between 1- and 2-point shots and when team fouls start leading to free throws.
  4. A test game: before the first official game, run a few minutes of a trial game to check that the panel works and the score reaches the tournament page.
  5. Overtime and tie-break rules: settle in advance how standings are decided on equal wins, so you don’t argue about it at the table.

The current game rules, including scoring, fouls, and overtime, are published by FIBA on the official FIBA 3×3 website. It’s worth checking them before each season, as details can change between editions of the rules.

3×3 tournaments and leagues

The electronic scoresheet works for both one-day tournaments and leagues. A consistent way of entering data makes life easier for everyone involved: table officials, court coordinators, communications staff, and the streaming crew. One data format means fewer mistakes and faster updates on the event website.

You can see a sample tournament run with the electronic 3×3 scoresheet and statistics at this link. We describe how it worked in practice (16 teams, 32 games on two courts, and live score bugs on the stream) in our report on the Magic Streetball Kęty 2026 3×3 basketball tournament.

3×3 statistics on your live stream

Scoresheet data feeds statistics views and overlay elements in OBS. You can show viewers the score and statistics instantly, without calculating anything by hand. If you also stream 5×5 games kept in FIBA Live Stats, see the automatic scoreboard overlay with OCR Live Scanner, and for statistics from official scoresheets, FIBA scoresheet analysis.
