Sample results: under-14 boys’ kata
In category MK01 – youth, born 2013–2014, boys, 3–1 kyu or dan grade, kata, the national champion was Tymon Nowakowski (Krakowski Klub Karate Tradycyjnego). Radosław Durlej took second place and Borys Blaszczok (Kluczborski Klub Karate) third.
How judges score kata at the championships
Kata in this category was held over three rounds: elimination, semifinal and final. Each performance was scored by six judges, and the score was calculated as follows:
- the highest and lowest scores are discarded,
- the round score is the sum of the remaining four,
- the sum of all six scores (shown in brackets) breaks ties.
An example from the elimination round: Tymon Nowakowski received 6.7 · 7.0 · 6.8 · 6.9 · 6.9 · 6.7. After dropping the extremes (7.0 and one 6.7), that leaves 6.8 + 6.9 + 6.9 + 6.7 = 27.3 points, and the sum of all six scores is 41.0. Turniej Generator calculates this automatically once the table official enters the scores and instantly shows the round ranking, with discarded scores crossed out so athletes and coaches can see exactly where the result came from.
